Daz Edwards is the newest member of the Del Chronics, replacing Adam on guitar duties.
Daz’ musical influences date back to the early 70s glam energy of T-Rex, Sweet and Bowie and the heaviness of Black Sabbath. There then came Punk via The Sex Pistols and The Damned, plus the many New Wave bands which followed.
Favourite guitarists, which you may pick out occasionally are Tony Iommi, Mick Ronson, Ace Frehley and Steve Jones.
I started playing drums when I was 11 years old. My influences are Led Zeppelin, The Who and Black Sabbath. I play a Premier kit and use Zildjan and Sabian cymbals.
Nige ‘Meff’ Meffen joined up with the Del-Chronics – replacing Darren Paine – when he saw an advert in Express Music in Coventry for a mature punk rock bass player and he thought the ad had been specifically written for him.
Nige, who has played in several bands looks towards Paul Simonon (The Clash), Steve Severin (Siouxsie & the Banshees), Jean-Jacques Burnel (The Stranglers) and Peter Hook (Joy Division / New Order/The Light) as his key influences.
When recording the album ‘Urban Playground’ Nige used a Gibson Les Paul Junior double cutaway short scale bass, but to get the correct live sound of The Del-Chronics, he uses a Chinese made Aria STB-series J Bass. He also states the Aria is very strong and bounces well off the stage!
I’ve been into punk since 1983. I love all punk bands and have seen some great gigs, Sham69, Angelic Upstarts, Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs and Anti Nowhere League are just some of them. I write the lyrics and the rest of the Chronics put the music to them.
